PowerWells School Workshops

PowerWells provides hands-on learning opportunities for young people to be involved in recycling electronic waste and constructing home solar systems for households without reliable & affordable access to electricity.

Hands on Activities:

  • How to pull apart and test lithium-ion laptop batteries

  • How to dismantle discarded televisions and computer screens

  • How to assemble PowerWell systems from laser cut screens and repurposed batteries.

Student outcomes & Learnings:

  • Sustainable Design & Manufacturing

  • Offsetting C02 Emissions

  • Sustainable Development Goals

  • Energy Access

  • STEM Related Activities.

Constructed Systems will be donated to our International Partners or Local Partners to distribute to households without electricity.

The PowerWells intervention program works with disengaged young people and provides them hands-on learning experiences to create practical and innovative products from electronic waste.

Through our workshops, students learn important life skills, such as teamwork, empathy and social connectedness, whilst developing vocational skills across a range of different career pathways. The end result is a daily source of pride and accomplishment as students use and admire their creations.
