At PowerWells, we design solar home systems that are affordable, durable, easy to build and repair, and built from repurposed electronic waste. By reusing 18650 Lithium-Ion batteries from laptops, TV screens, and other discarded electronics, we create systems that bring light, charging, and opportunities to families without electricity, while keeping toxic waste out of landfill.

Our Design Philosophy

Built for Longevity

Our PowerWells Home Solar systems are engineered to:

  • Run at less than 50% of component stress to extend lifespan .

  • Use safer charge and discharge cut-offs, protecting batteries and increasing cycle life .

  • Allow easy upgrades — users can add new batteries, battery packs and larger solar panels as their needs grow (e.g., powering radios, TVs, fans, or computers) .

  • Be fully deconstructed at end-of-life so that plastics, metals, and batteries can be recycled again .

Smart, Trackable, Transparent

Every PowerWell includes custom software that:

  • Tracks energy generated, lighting hours, and devices charged.

  • Records system uptime and temperature for quality assurance.

  • Supports PAYGo payments, making clean energy affordable for low-income households.

Beyond the Household

  • Community Systems and Solar Street Lighting: Larger versions provide shared lighting and larger charging hubs from 500Wh to 1KWh, using repurposed EV batteries . These Community Hubs can scale up to Shipping Containers equiped with fridges, freezers, computers and satellite internet access.

  • Innovation Spin-Offs: Our battery management technology also powers smart road flood signs and solar trailers for disaster relief and education .
